Ahhhh, fuck.

So work sent a 1099-MISC for the B-Wiser stuff I did. To Columbus. More than a week after I got my W-2.

Just called the IRS office to request a 1040X to modify things.

They're really blowing up the taxes this year, eh? I didn't have any of whatever that thing they screwed up on the W-2 was, but I had filed my taxes by the time the announcement appeared.

Quick tip: If you saved the envelope, check the date it was mailed. If it was after Jan. 31, then the company is at fault, not you. Therefore they should be responsible for any expenses you incur for refiling your taxes. Of course, if you prepared your taxes yourself, it doesn't really matter...

Yep. Self-preparing sucks. And while I haven't seen the envelope yet, it'd not surprise me if it was sent on the 31st and just took that long to arrive.

Possibly. Or some poor schmuck discovered too late that you hadn't been sent your tax reporting form, and is sucking up a nice IRS penalty.

Considering I got to spend part of my week auditing our books, thanks to people neglecting to tell me some important interest income reporting laws, thereby discovering that I missed four people, the latter wouldn't surprise me either.

Given all the screwups that have been made this year, it wouldn't entirely suprise me.

But what can we do, really? Except sigh and want to slap people.
