I look at the news to see what I missed, today. I see a piece about possibly as many as 120 US soldiers being killed today, and how the Bush Administration has chosen today to start a bold new campaign...to ban pornography..

Someone's priorities are fucked, and I'm pretty sure they ain't mine.

Read this article. It's fucking great. And the best part is, the man who believes that dancing and drinking coffee will get you sent to hell is all trying to be in charge of telling you what is 'OK' to see or do!

fuck it. Emigrating.

If everyone who opposes policies like this were to emigrate, then policies like this would pass without objection.

Since the US pretty much owns half of the global media market, this would be bad.

Normally it would be. But I'm exhausted, stressed, and tired. And I see the odds stacking higher and higher against my favor every time I turn around.

Two recent political leaders allegedly had this nefarious habit.

Both came to power after dubious elections, by non-electorial and irregular methods.

Both nations immediately experienced attacks on famous public buildings.

Both blamed an ethnic minority before forensics had any evidence.

Both led "witch-hunts" against the accused minority.

Both suspended civil liberties "temporarily."

Both put the citizenry under surveillance.

Both maintained secret and clandestine governments.

Both launched wars against most of the world.

One had a funny mustache. Can you name the other one?

I find it ironically frightening that Ashcroft and Hitler share so much..perhaps he is a Nazi and the Isrealites should take care of him.

Possibly. But the other question is: How many people would we really be fighting for? After all, at least 50%, if not more, of the polled electorate seems to think that the Bush Administration is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and there is nothing wrong with what they are doing.

The problem with believing in America is that I fear the America I believe in may increasingly be in my head.

Good of the electorate? They're actually supposed to do what with that?

I myself have recently come to the conclusions that the die-hard Neo-Conservative right are indeed facists. They espouse that one should love America above our own rights, which is a devotional nationalism. They believe that they are better than those traitorus liberals, and the wretched poor, I can call this nothing except elitism. Third, a trend of irrationalism, such as focusing on attacking the porn industry while starting wars all over the world. Nationalism, Elitism, and Irrationalism are the keystones of fascist thought, and these Neo-Cons fit that description to a T.

I really don't think that people would allow porn to be banned. And even if it is, it'd just turn into Prohibition all over again. Just with Hustler magazines instead of bottles of hooch.

Look over approval ratings for Presidents. You're going to find with few occurances that most carry a 50+ rating most of the time. That approval rating means the President is doing an overall good job, it does not infer that they feel they feel he is absolute perfection, doing nothing wrong. To assume that only buys into the stark partisan climate of current politics. This happed before between Whigs and Democrats - the result was a new party.

America is all about balancing the interests of the majority with the rights of the minorities. Now frankly, I see absolutely no plausible scenario where porn would be outlawed - and if you want to put one up I'll gladly riddle it with realistic holes. At the same time, while porn is certainly guaranteed by our democracy, I would hope there are more noble things in this country worth fighting for before this, it's like arguing that race tracks and casinos are lifting up our cultural spirit.

But hey - if the 'problem' with believing in America is your lack of faith in our own country's ability to right (no pun intended) itself, then by all means jump ship.

I must agree: this is completely ridiculous.

I'm not really the target audience for porn, but still, trying to destroy this 'indecent' industry is a waste of everyone's time and government money.

They're going to stop Internet pornography? Ha. Ha ha.

Why does our govt have so many hangups about this kind of stuff?? If you don't want to look at porn, don't look at it. The answer is not DESTROY DESTROY.
