So, as I mentioned, I had a major run of bloodwork done last week.

Today, I found out how it went.

First off is the news that I not only lost more than 20 lbs. since my last weigh-in, but that from my bloodwork, it looked like at least another 10-15 lbs. turned to muscle rather than fat. Possibly more.

My vitals today were all exactly normal for a healthy adult:
BP 120/80
Pulse: 96
Respiration: 20.

The even better news, however, was what my bloodwork showed.

Before, my sugars had been rapidly heading for Type II diabetes.

Today, after 6 months of excercise and a few dietary adjustments, they were not only healthy, but slightly above average in the 'good' levels.

My cholesterol is much better, and my lipids are normal for a 23 year old adult.

I have beaten Diabetes.

While I'm very proud of you, don't just assume you've beaten diabetes once and for all. :( That might be really dangerous to think. However...geeze, keep doing what you're doing, those numbers are great! Much better all around than mine were when I went to the outpatient hospital lab in March for the thyroid workup. :P

So now what needs to be done is like in all weight-loss plan commercials. Before and after. Preferably if it was some strange way of doing it.
I lost 50 pounds to the fragmaster! It's easy. Just hook up the fragmaster treadmill to the USB port and configure it as your controller for all your favorite games! I burn over 100 calories a kill on deathmatches, and my gaming has never been better! So get the fragmaster, and when your Counterstrike runs, so do you!

Yesssss....

Actually, I think someone already makes something like that...

It's a shame there isn't some cheesy victory music to accompany beating diabetes... but congrats =).

You do look a lot better, and I'm sure your improved health will make you feel a lot better, too.

Honestly, I do feel a lot better, and I inted to keep up the diet and excercise to help make it even more lasting.

Sounds like it's time to raise the bar.

Congrats all the same.

The next bar is continuing my excercise, and getting my leg back to full with the required therapy.

After that, I have 135 more pounds I'd like to lose. Even if I have to go 15-20 pounds every 6 months, I will do it.

Heh. That makes at least two friends of mine who've done that, and we suspect Neal managed it too in the wake of his surgery. Rock on. :)

A DIABETES2 approaches! Command?

> EXERCISE

An excellent move! Thou hast lost 25 pounds!
DIABETES2 is defeated!

Thou hast done well in defeating the DIABETES2.

Of GOLD thou hast gained 139.
Of experience thou hast gained 1400.

------

But really, great news. I hope I can follow suit. According to my doc, I'm not in danger of Diabetes (yet, but he warned me I will if I don't shape up), but I really do need to lose weight.

You've been weightlifting mainly, correct?

30 minutes of excersize. Doesn't matter what. I alternated lifting and walking until I got hurt. But if you find something that you like, and stick to do it without fail, 5 days a week (or more), you'll do it.

Yeah, my problem wasn't the exercise, it was keeping to a regular schedule. I lose weight fast when I exercise, I just need to work on the discipline to keep it up.

You have to have a reason, I think.

I found one.

Congrats, Matt. I am -very- glad to hear.
