Ooof.

Now, the rent check being cashed a month after I gave it to the landlord isn't so bad.

Automatic billpay on some of our utilities which Alex is supposed to pay me back for isn't so bad.

Paying for a lot of the groceries and stuff this month and Alex is supposed to pay me back is getting kinda bad.

All of these piling up is starting to get very bad. I'm down to about $300 of the $900 I was paid this morning and the $400 that had been in the account prior to that after everything was said and done.

He's promised he'll pay me tonight, and I'm sure he's good for it, but I've been doing the primary purchasing lately, and I think that needs to stop. We both get paid the same schedule, and just because I make more until he gets his promotion next month isn't a good reason that I should be taking the financial burdens and he just gets to pay me back later.

Equal weight is good.

Gah. I always hated when the landlord deposited the rent check at odd times.
I'd check my bank account, see I had enough money. Then, even though the rent was due on the first, it would get deposited on the 25th or so...right after I spent enough to put my account total below the amount of rent, and a week before next paycheck. It cost me at least a few hundred dollars in bank fees before I realized it was even happening.
See if you can get the landlord to tell you when he actually deposits the things.

Apparently they /are/ supposed to get deposited 2 days after the final due date. They weren't this month because the 2 people authorized to deposit the money were both on vacation.

All it says to me is that I need to give them money orders from now on.

Money orders are a clever solution, especially if your account gives them to you for free. But don't underestimate the power of keeping your checkbook balanced. Honestly, that's nearly all I use my Palm for.

And yes, appropriate weight is good (I mean, if he eats a handful of rice a day, I guess the scheme is ok, but it's it's pretty even, then it should be pretty even).

The checkbook is mostly balanced. Just didn't expect for so many things to hit the exact same day.

Really, it isn't even that he's making more debt than he puts in credit, it's that right now I've basically been paying all the bills, and he just pays back later, and I'd really like him to pay some things, too, so that I don't feel like I'm the only person supporting things.

Ah, I gotcha. You could look on the bright side and see that you're the one building the credit rating :)

But I understand your point now.

Equal shares is essential to establish.

Hubby and I don't pay equal shares, but then, he makes about twice as much money I do a month. So he pays rent, I pay the food bill, which being both smaller and manipulable by sale, I'm pretty well set for handling.
