Work sucked today. Manager backstabbed a couple of people who've been in the department for a long time and were due for promotion. It's a dominance game. I think, judging by office gossip, she'll be rather surprised and a bit dismayed when at least the two people who were screwed leave the company, and take three others with them.

On the one hand, I'm disgusted at the manager's behavior. On the other, my chances for promotion and full time employment improve dramatically if they walk. At the moment, it's a toss up.

Proved my worth by staying until almost six fixing a saleswoman's laptop, even after she damn near got an abuse writeup for how she acted on the phone. She came down in major apologies and I did the job. Mark wrote me up for an official kudos for my conduct.

Got a queen sized mattress at a moving sale for $20. Not in the best shape, but actually firmer than my older double. Fits fairly well on the box spring, but not perfectly. I can deal. Found a nice set of sheets and mattress pad on sale at Wal-Mart in a very rich navy. Almost a black. Very me.

I think that if you took every negative stereotype in Western culture, put them in cars of varying condition and cost, and asked them to behave in as childish a manner as possible, you might not get a Wal-Mart parking lot, but it would be oddly familiar to anyone who's shopped there recently.

Tired. Fed. Achy.
