So, I found an article about what happened yesterday. Link.

There's one problem.

That's not where the police at the time said "The Device" was.

It's also odd that this wasn't on any of the 11 o'clock news reports, and only one local news carrier had anything about it on their website today.

I have a really bad gut feeling that they found something that wasn't just 'personal items' and they don't want it getting out.

Another possibility is that the guy assembled something that resembled a bomb. Which would classify as a Device and not as a Bomb. Which would muddy the water somewhat. A lot of things can LOOK like a bomb sufficient to give people pause while they try to figure out what the hell it is.

True, but I'm still confused. They had us 'quarantined' RIGHT behind where the 'bomb' the news talked about was.

Why put us there if there's even a risk of a live device?

They could've been trying to find the guy who was responsible. Or they were trying to find out if he had accomplices waiting in the area with a remote trigger.

There's also the concern of causing panic by allowing a mass exodus from an area.

Could be. Still, though.

There's also the concern of causing panic by allowing a mass exodus from an area.

Yet they did just that on the other side of the mall. Odd, huh?

Oh, well.

In life, it is best to initially assume incompetence until malfeasance can be proven within a reasonable doubt.

These ARE Columbus cops you're talking about.

True, but some things just niggle at me with the whole thing.

I suppose this is the start of my descent into the Tinfoil hat brigade.

If you send your hat size, I can have the Xangtharian tailors of the Hritzu Nebula whip up a good tinfoil hat.
