bzarcher: A Sylveon from Pokemon floating in the air, wearing a pair of wingtip glasses (Default)

Y'know, between CoH, my grandparents coming to visit Saturday afternoon, and the fact that I finally caved and bought Dawn of War, plus my new brushes and inks finally arrived for my Battletech miniatures....

I may be falling off the face of the earth, soon.

May you play long and prosper. :)

Hope you don't run into the Dawn of War audio bug. I get tired of clicking on my units and hearing them say "I serve in the Emperor's BZZZZZZZZZZZZ..."

Next time me and my peoples pile into some online fun, I'll holler at you.

Awesome! Looking forward to it.

I think once Alex's computer is finished with upgrading and repairs, he's going to be getting it, too. He spent a lot of the time I was gaming sitting on my bed and looking over my shoulder as I sent the Blood Ravens over the top.

CoH is a grand obsession. I got to level 22 with my scrapper. So much fun! SO enhancements are the bomb diggity.

I'm about halfway to 20 with my Energy blaster, nearing 17 with my Scrapper, on the edge of 10 with my AR blaster, and my Defender sits at 14, alone, because Empathy defenders suck unless you're in a group, but I love grouping with him when I do have a good crew.

Capes are immensely cool.

The problem with a cape for my energy blaster is that he's a super-speeder, and a cape wouldn't make sense with his concept (constantly tinkered with battle armor that works as much through jerry-rigs as good science). On the other hand, I might get him a 'dress uniform' sort of costume, and a cape would work for that rather nicely.

And when my scrapper hits 20, he SCREAMS cape.

There are a lot of sweet new games out. As a cynical gamer, I can honestly say that I think we've reached another golden era for PC games akin to 1994. Warhammer 40k, Total War Rome, Star Wars Battlefront, Doom III, Sims 2 (I don't like it for the same reasons PA doesn't but there are those that do) and others... it's sweeeeet.

I just wish I had the cash for them. I would love to get into Rome:TW, but right now I'm focusing on DoW and CoH and that's almost all my gaming time right there!

What's your favorite faction thus far?

Space Marines. Give me the time to get a few strategic points in my hands and I'll make sure you never get back up.

However, online play keeps being buggy as shit for me. I can't get it to work properly over my broadband, so I've been doing single player except for one quick LAN game.

Hmmmm. I'd give Chaos a shot too. Their ranged infantry are approximately equivalent to their SM equivalents and the Obliterators are equipped with heavy armour, bolters, and lascannons... AND can teleport... so I'm a big fan of them too =D

Add in the ability to summon a daemon through your unit commanders and you have a recipe for much, much mayhem.

I haven't really gotten in the swing of Orc or Eldar combat thus far... I have a definite preference for smaller numbers of highly accurate and disciplined forces over mobs... (but Eldar infantry still sucks)

I've actually been playing Orcs a lot the past week and have been really grooving on them. Not sure about Chaos, though.
