Yes, Phil, I'm starting your boost post with a quoute from Meglos. At least it's a Tom Baker. :D

I met [livejournal.com profile] snowspinner while we were both freshmen at Wooster, living in Douglass Hall back when that still stood for something. I think we both got the sense that each was a fairly similar type, but what cemented it was a discussion where Dr. Who came up.

I can't remember exactly what was said, but it ended with me getting every single episode I'd taped over the years from PBS and bringing them up to Wooster. Not too much longer after that, we decided that the idea of living with each other was far better than living with our current roommates at the time, and we began planting the seeds for the Great 2nd Floor Swap, which ended with something like 20 students trading rooms and roommates until everyone was pretty happy.

Housing hated us, I'm fairly sure.

God, where do I go with this?

I could talk about Phil's somewhat disturbing yet beautiful love of the classic NES games, particularly his obession with Megaman and Zelda that lead to things like "Bet you can't do it all on 1 life..." or "So let's see if I can do it without the sword..." and the ensuing carnage.

There's the night he dropped all (at the time) published TPBs of Transmetropolitan on my bed while I was sick to give me something to read, and I ended up laughing so hard at the end that I busted a blood vessel in my eye.

Countless times he stayed up when I was having a bad night or periods of self-doubt and other, more severe stupidity, talking to me and trying to help me get back on my feet, mentally and physically.

Runs down to Country Kitchen at hours when even the owls were wondering why someone was awake and discussing Kant, comic books, and just why American Beauty won an Oscar.

Raw amusement when you went from being a PC guy to a Mac Guy, and the changes therein.

There's also the fact that over the past few years I think it's a very honest statement to say that you've grown, Phil. Not merely in a physical sense, but in maturity. I think you're settling very well into the land of adulthood, and I'm very glad things are looking so good for you.

Oh, and he has a little writing project to distract from his Ph.D work that seems to be getting some interest. :>

Plus, it's a world without dogs.
