No, I'm not kidding. It's basically a device to completely fabricate custom human tissue for transplants, grafts, etx.

If they get this to full production, I'm going to make a prediction.

Nobody will ever have to wait more than 14 days for an organ transplant, ever again, by 2010.

Another victory for mad science.

Considering all the developments in bio and tecj sciences among other things...we are drifting yet closer to a Shadowrun world it seems....

Just seven more years! Err ... give or take a few months, I suppose. We'll see.

Remember, I'm completely insane and think I know what's going to happen.

Heh. Wait until they start wanting to re-enact the battle of Helm's Deep - with the Orcs winning.

The possibility's certainly there. Printing a new face for a Face-dancer, let it graft...

So fucking cool. Of course, no one will have to wait long for the grafts, provided their insurance covers it.

I can't imagine an insurance that covers current transplant tech/procedure not covering this, given that it would be far safer and less likely to incur more to pay.

But, insurance companies are just about as evil as it gets...

More importantly, when can we use this technology to craft custom-order gerbils?

Sooner than you think.

Scientists are developing an inkjet printer that can create "made to measure" skin

In related news, Hewlett-Packard has announced development on the SkinJet 300, which will retail at $59.95. The price of the skin cartridges are TBD, but are expected to start at three billion dollars, and will come in the traditional CMYK configuration.

No one will have to wait, that is of course, if you can afford it.

Hey, I'll take this over a world where chopping up criminals for organ donors wasn't a piece of satire.
