Aug. 20th, 2005 10:15 amSo, apparently what I really need to get my creative juices flowing is to lose a pint of blood.
After giving blood yesterday afternoon, Lisa and I got home to find that the box of GW bitz Alex and I had ordered arrived. After some food and rest, I started breaking out my various sprues and things with the help of
dklegman, and I found myself going from "Well, I'll get the assault weapons I wanted put together, and maybe I'll fancy out a Sargeant..." to making four 6 man squads of Marines from spare bodies, bitz, and various, including 4 almost totally bitz'd/converted Sargeants, which I will be painting over the next few days. Trimmed and remodeled arms for poses, modding pistols and swords here and there, figuring out really neat looking ways to mount wargear, the works. I was even getting ready to go out and spray base coats on until I was forcibly reminded by my body that it was 1am.
Still, I'm damn proud of this, especially since I did a lot of tiny, tiny detail work here and there that won't be horridly obvious, but when it shows up on the table, ought to be very sweet. (Example - using the architect's lamp, I cut an awesome friging/tearing/ragged edge into one of the large-scale purity seals that is meant to hook to the bottom of the shoulder pauldron, and then I used one of the older style bumpy shoulders to make it look like this is a truly old piece of armor.)
Dave, Alex, and I spent a lot of fun BSing at the table, Lisa had fun watching us and messing around with her stuff, we all watched Mythbusters, and I went upstairs and took down a 300/20 NLH table at Pokerstars.
I need to lose blood more often.
