Sep. 3rd, 2005 10:22 pmMy primary email is kinda wonked at the moment. If I don't reply to something you asked me, re-route to bzarcher(AT)gmail(DOT)com and I will do my best to get you back.
I was in Section 22AA, row 7, seat 30 of the OSU game today. That's basically 20 feet from the 40 yard line. It was incredible. I can't honestly describe the energy or the experience well, but it was something I will definently treasure.
It was Alumni Band day, so over 650 band alums came back to march and perform. In one case, the oldest MARCHING member, but not the oldest ATTENDING alumni, was 90 years old. The oldest attending member was at least 105 years old, since he was part of the class of 1920. They did quad script Ohio.
We went to the pre-game rally, and I think I understand why the Nazi and Bund rallies were so effective - it was a very similar experience. German history students? Go to one of these season-opener rallies. When the frustration, the anticipation, the tension's been building for almost 8 months, and gets released in an orgy of love, devotion, and a deep seated desire to see your chosen warriors dominate their opposition.
Best. Saturday. Ever.
Even if my face looks like boiled lobster.
