Gaunts - side

I thought about going with spinelaunchers or the Devourer for the shooty gaunt squad, but I wasn't sure if those were good for the points, so I figured the "stock" option was a good way to go.

Devourers kick ass. You'll find the rage of fleshborers and spine fists to be a pain. With 2 shots at 18", re-rolling wounds, Devourers are generally the way to go. Here's the deal.

You get an extra round of shooting. And twice as many shots per round.
The only drawback is against marines, where you need 6s to wound, instead of 4s. Even rerolling failed wounds, the chance to wound still doesn't catch up. However, you're dumping twice as much firepower, with a full extra round of shooting. And if you run any less, ANY LESS than 16 gaunts. I will slap you.

They look awesome! I look forward to firing in their general direction.

Speaking of which,

I estimate 3-5 hours of touch-up and finish before it's tabletop ready. It will be bad, bad news once that's done.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll take the arms off that one, then.

This box was meant to be a test - if I'm feeling gribbly, I'll probably use Christmas Money to buy the battleforce and fill them out.

Duuude.

You should post that on the forums when it's finished, for it look most badassly.

And don't forget your drones. :D

Cool. Actually, I'd recommend just assembling them with out the arms and play testing them with various setups before you get everything set.

Some other pointers. Toxin Sacs on hormagaunts are worth their weight in gold.
Extended Carapace on Genestealers. Oh yes.
Carnifex with no ranged weaponry. Bad.

If you have any other stuff you have questions with well..you know where to find me.

If I get a battleforce, and the 'Fex (FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX!) I'll probably be doing it as a GunFex, after reading a really nice article on Dakkadakka about them.

Heavy support or Elite is my only question, though I'm leaning to HS.

For a Carnifex? Heavy Support. You can't get enough stuff on the 'fex as an elite to make it survive. Also, you're elite slots you'll want to have for warriors and MAYBE lictors. But definately warriors.
