Wow, so many kittens and cats at that house. (The husband and wife who own the place seem nice enough, but considering that the cats outnumber the people by about 4 to 1, I'm going to call them Crazy Cat People just based on the numbers...)
All of them were friendly and even the adult cats were very sociable and wasted no time demanding attention. Because the husband is going overseas with the Navy soon, they're trying to get all but 2 of the cats adopted, but we really only can take 1 more without out landlord getting all up upons.
So, after we spent an hour playing with/visiting the kittens and their mother/aunt/uncle/adopted cat guardians we went over to Red Robin and decided which one we're going to put our dibs on when I call them back tomorrow. (The kittens still need about 2 weeks, at least, but we'd rather he/she not get adopted out from under us!)
His (though the kittens haven't been sexed yet, so that may be a totally inappropriate pronoun!) name is the currently very appropriate "Blue Eyes". Blue Eyes (and yes, we'll almost certainly give him/her a better name...) is a beautiful little black ragdoll Siamese, with shockingly blue eyes that haven't turned to green yet, unlike the rest of the litter. He's quite adventurous, and seems quite good at giving as good as he gets from the other cats in his current home, so we think that will help with getting Patches used to sharing the house again.
Quite energetic, and extreeeeeemely cute. We will try to get pictures next time, I think - since this was a getting to know you/checking us out to make sure we were safe type evening, I didn't bring my camera or try to take camphone shots, which was probably for the best.
I'm very excited about the possibility of a kitten - and I have to admit that if we could take one of the adults, too, they have an older domestic longhair who reminds me so much of Rusty that I teared up a little thinking about it. I would have loved to take him, too, but we're bound by our situation.
And besides, if the cats start outnumbering the people in the house, we turn into Crazy Cat People, too...
