We'd be far, far more sympathetic if he'd had a helmet on. As it is, part of me still says "The other car supposedly cut him off to turn left", but the rest of me says "and that's why you wear a helmet!"

I've heard occasional mention of some (at least notional) Pittsburgh Left Turn.
