bzarcher: A Sylveon from Pokemon floating in the air, wearing a pair of wingtip glasses (Hulk! Smash!)

Someone seems to have flipped the switch from Friday to Monday around here. Add to that the crappy weather, and I seriously doubt that Alex, Lisa, and I will be going to the Comfest shows tonight, though I may be proven wrong.

But, in positive news, Lisa has a job interview tomorrow morning, so hopefully that goes well.

(Meanwhile, I am still sickened and darkly amused that there's a strong chance she could make more money making sandwhiches at a cafe than educating and caring for people's children.)

Less stress in making sammiches too. If a sammich is bad, you throw it away. If a kid is bad, not only can you not do anything about it, but the parent's make it your fault. *sigh*

I reccomend her getting into administration. A lot of times, it's just like looking after a bunch of children. Receptionist jobs are great for web-surfing all day.

She's applied to a couple, but no dice yet.

Temp agency is a good place to start. Let's you earn money while you look for work. RHI's OfficeTeam is a good one.

Thankya - I'll show her that.

My friend Lena works in a Montessori classroom. She puts in long hours and spends a lot of time running after 3-6 year olds all day. She gets good benefits, but she doesn't make much. It amazes me that a private, Montessori school can't pay their people more. Its the irony of education in this country. Same with child care, which can improve the child's behaviour. *Sigh*

*nods* Especially when you consider that some of these teachers, particularly the pre-school ones like Lisa, probably have more to do with the child's early development than the parents will, because they spend 8-10 hours a day with the teachers, and only 3 or 4 with their parents. (Heck, one set of parents I know of at Lisa's school drops the kid off at 7am with breakfast and a dinner that goes in the fridge, and doesn't pick him up until after 8pm...and the mother had the gall to say she kept wishing for more time alone for herself!)

The part that really sickens me is how much the school charges for the teachers services - $1800 a month per child, and I'm pretty certain that about half of it goes to the owner's pockets.

I won't disagree with that, being a cynical bastard, but I'd guess a not inconsiderable portion goes to insurance as well.
