Not just getting rear ended...getting rear ended by a Police officer.

Bumper's kinda scratched up, no injuries. Because of the crash bars on his cruiser, he actually got the worst of it (crash bars appear to have snapped backwards on impact and cracked his headlights).

He already admitted fault (he was looking at his computer instead of watching where he was going), and I got a police report and a card for the CPD claims officer, and CPD will pay for it.

Now I'll just need to find time to get it in for an estimate.

If you had to get rear ended by a cop, at least it was one who also appears to be a reasonable human being. Glad you're okay.

Yep. I do feel bad for him, a bit - his Sargeant had to be called out, due to CPD regs, and he got a bit of a good-natured earful.

Wow, what a story. I hope you're okay. How roughly were you rear-ended?

I was stopped, and I think he was going somewhere between 10 and 15 miles. The car got jolted and I was knocked forward a bit, but nothing too serious.

I think it's a sign of how my day has gone that your last sentence there made me snort and inhale the water I was trying to drink. Heh.

Sucky morning. Although as everyone has already echoed, you seem to have gotten a nice officer. I feel bad for him because it was clearly an accident, but he will probably have to deal with disciplinary action and insults from his co-workers.

Glad you are ok, at least its not a financial strain on you either.

Oh, yeah. I'm kinda surprised I didn't just turn around and go back home with the way this morning's been. :D

He'll probably be OK - though I'm sure he won't hear the end of it for awhile.

I'm gonna probably take the car into the shop tomorrow and see what we can find out.

There should be a drive-thru shop where you can just go for an estimate without an appointment. I have done that before and it worked well, it only took about 15 minutes.

Hmm. True.

OTOH, it'd also take about the same time at the dealer, and then I can drool over a new Solstice convertible that I'll never reasonably be able to buy. :>

Well if you have other motives then go right ahead! Might as well get some daydreaming in.

Oh, my, yes.

Shame I don't think I could get away with buying one - I need a trunk I can actually put more than a laptop bag into. :/

Ditto the others -- I'm glad you're okay, and that the officer was a good guy.

I did take pictures of the car from my phone, just in case, but I don't think there's much he could have really done if he tried to put up a fuss. I'd have called the Hilliard cops, and had photo evidence + the damage to his cruiser.

The real question is does he feel guilty enough to let you out of your next speeding ticket?

Y'know, I have this odd gift with that, but I really don't want to abuse it by trying this particular card out.

Glad to hear no one was injured. I wonder how a fender bender affects a cop's insurance?

Well, for one thing, I believe that the money the city is paying for any needed repairs is coming out of his pay.
