Dec. 23rd, 2006 12:43 amSo, Alex is safely in Philly, while Lisa is off at a Solstice Party / Girl's Night out.
I ended up heading over to my parents' place, where we had been planning to go buy (and then decorate) a tree...but all the lots closed by 6 today. Whoops.
After rescheduling the trip for tomorrow, we took
neeri and her just-arrived Dad out to dinner at the Hickory House (loud, kinda cramped, and they screwed up my order, but -damn- they make fall-off-the-bone good ribs), and then
neeri pulled out her Wii and I found myself playing Wii sports for the next several hours.
I'm not a terribly dab hand in Bowling (though apparently my issues with snapping my wrist when I bowl comes from my Mom - she does the exact same thing!), and I was having some problems getting into Boxing (I should have remapped for a lefty, so I'd be jabbing with my strong hand), but I was Death Incarnate when it came to Baseball. I only got a few hits, but nobody could touch my splitter or curveball, and when the time was right, I pulled out the fastball to make the batter RESPECT MY HEAT.
Unfortunately, I started to flag before I could try Tennis, but I now definently want to buy a Wii sooner or later. It's ridiculously fun, and I saw fairly good proof that Nintendo's basic concept of the "everyman" console is sound -
neeri's dad got into things very easily, and my Mom (who has never had any interest in a video game that wasn't Tetris), was all about the Baseball and Bowling.
Plus, hey, decent workout after an hour or two of most of that!
Next stop, tomorrow, a Tree, and my grandfather wants to buy us a comfy chair as a very late housewarming gift...
Edit: Oh, and
dklegman - Check this Science out as I drop it upon you.

Re: comfy chair, you say?
Date: 2006-12-24 09:02 pm (UTC)We (or, rather, they) ended up buying a big, comfy Lay-Z-Boy recliner that I'll be picking up on Wed.
I'm already looking forward to napping in it.

Date: 2006-12-26 03:45 am (UTC)Okay, so I can't stretch out on it width-wise. But any giant pillow bigger'n me? Awesome. You'll have to come out and see them some time. *wink nudge*
Happpy Gifting Day!
(I got such cool schtuff!)
