Jun. 30th, 2007 11:57 amHappy birthdays to both
riotlounge and
dklegman, for you are both uniquely awesome. :D
I've had a really fun morning, even though I had to get up at 6am.
Lisa needed to go downtown, so we got up, drove down about 7:30, and after I dropped her off at Buckeye donuts to meet some people, I went over to the Arena district.
First, I met up with a medium sized crew from HFBoards for breakfast at the new Rise N Shine that opened up across the street from the arena (very tasty biscuits and gravy, reasonably good corn beef hash, and very friendly waitstaff for 8am on a Saturday. :D)
Then we headed over to the Ice Haus to watch this morning's development camp - the Blue Jackets have been running all of their entry-level contract players through them all week, but this was the first one I had the chance to attend. I'm very glad to have gone! Watching them run drills was neat, and I got a lot of pictures, and then they broke into two teams and played about an hour's worth of 3 on 3 hockey, wrapped up at the end by a massive shootout where each player would try to score on both of the goalies being worked out. (LaCosta in one net, Mason in the other.) Legien ended up winning that shootout contest/drill, and I have to say that I can't wait to see him in a Jackets uniform soon. I think he's probably a year away, barring a really strong performance in camp, but he puts a hell of a show on the ice, and just about every time he got the puck he beat Mason and LaCosta like they owed him money.
Finally, I got home and found that
mscongeniality left me a meme...

So many choices, but how can you go wrong with... What's wrong with this jumper? (9th Doctor, The Unquiet Dead)
This afternoon we'll be bottling the new run of wine (the strawberry white merlot that we set down back in April) and I wouldn't be surprised if we enjoy a bit of it tonight. :>
