Yea, foul memery.
Oct. 15th, 2007 11:46 pmThe Meme: Comment and I'll pick seven of your icons, and then you will explain why you love/are using the icon (who doesn't love talking about their icons, seriously) and then post your explanation/this meme in your journal for other people to squee about their icons, and basically it will be a huge squeefest of love and 100x100 square pixels.
valkyrwench asked about...
1. HK40k
A clip from the classing "Hello Kitty 40k" wallpaper, it's my general mayhemery icon. Used to use it a lot more, back when I had less userpic room, but still one of my favorites for the great juxtaposition of cute and carnage.
2.Feather

Taken from a picture of me back at Andrews Hall, at the College of Wooster. Generally I liked to use it for "Feelings/Thoughts/Writing" posts. It's me, holding a feather that came off of a pair of angel wings I purchased for a halloween costume that year. (Which also got recycled a few other times, including IS monday)
3. RahXephon

An animated gif created by (if I remember correctly)
neversremedy when she was trying to learn how to do animated .gifs. I really like the RahXephon animated series, and the art direction was really beautiful and different when I first saw it. (I repeat that it's Evangelion done without the undying hatred for the audience.) The Rah is one of my favorite mecha designs, and I tend to use it whenever I feel like looking at it. :>
4. Zaku
God said, "Boy, if you keep talking about giant robots, you need a giant robot icon." And who am I to argue with that? Plus, it's the perfect icon to use when I'm working on Gundam MGs. I love Gundam as a series for its' designs and storytelling (though the side-universes basically retelling the same events with only slght twists got old for me), and the Gundam model kits are some of the most fun to build out there.
5. McNinja

I love the webcomic The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. It's silly and awesome. This tends to be an icon I use when waylaying others with jackassery.
6. Snow

I'm a winter person. I was born in winter, I'm most comfortable in winter, and I love sports like Hockey and Curling, that always go best in winter.
I particularly love snow. Explaining why would be complex, and I reccomend reading one of the Christmas Transmetropolitan short stories by Warren Ellis, because he talks a lot about winter, and snow, and how cleansing and peaceful it is.
This icon came from the Anime version of Kikaider. It's Saburo (Hakkaider) walking around in the middle of a snowstorm, waiting to ambush the hero. It was also produced as part of a 4-panel "portrait" of Hakkaider...which I searched for, but had no luck finding tonight. Damn! I really liked the series (and the Saburo anti-hero character), plus he was a dead ringer for Blues out of armor, and since I was playing him at M3 at the time, adding a few Saburo/Blues icons worked really well.
7. Spider

An icon I found on
flemco's journal, made by
mithras.
I'm a big fan of Transmet, and Warren Ellis in general, so I got a kick out of it. Plus, as
mithikall will tell you, the Chair Leg of Truth and I go way back.
Do not anger the Chair Leg of Truth. It is Wise and Terrible.
And so we end this delightful expedition! First you will be bathed, and then there will be cake.

Date: 2007-10-16 04:57 am (UTC)It's so true.
When we watched RahXephon in anime club a few years back, we had to implement a 'no Evangelion comments' rule though. It was just too easy.
