Is everyone trying to piss me off this weekend?

OK, when I volunteer to go help my family with their final Christmas shopping, I expect to get a little bit of "Lose weight, are you working out still, is there a girl out there, etx etx."

Having three different people pull me aside to say "Why aren't you going to a doctor and letting him control your life with pills?" at different times in the day was not expected, nor welcome, nor particularly enjoyed any more after repetition.

Especially when my sister didn't just bring it up AGAIN, she actually was reading lines! Off the back of her grocery list! That I think Mom wrote for her! Despite me trying to interrupt her!

I know there's a family history of various problems. I even recognize that they're mostly acting out of concern.

But a script? A fucking script?

And, y'know, the continued implications that I can't possibly feel happy or good without being on medication? Also nice.

Fuck me for actually wanting to spend time with my family at the holiday.

Oooooo, I feel your anger, I sure do. Just got off the phone with my brother, who says EVERYONE in our family needs therapy. Told him I was glad it's working for him, but to say that we all NEED this in order to be functioning human beings isn't only false, it's actually sort of insulting.

So. More power to ya for not going with the pills route. I hate the whole 'medicate away your problems' approach personally.

What really gets me isn't just that they reccomend treatment when none of them have any medical qualifications...it's that they're reccomending things that they've tried and then go on to say that it -didn't work-. Where's the sense in that?

But yea. Pills suck. Makes you wonder what people did before they had all this chemical crap. Oh yea, they bucked up and delt with whatever.

However, from what you say, in some defense for your sister.. it doesn't sound like she was all the enthusiastic about the discussion. And I think I spelt enthusiastic wrong.
