Pazzy mails another puck home and reclaims his crown as the Shutout King (Henrik Lundqvist tied him on Monday with 7.)

6 points of the possible 10 on this road trip. Not the 8 that I thought were possible, but still good. I was shocked to learn this will only be the 5th time in franchise history where they've gotten 6 or more points on a 4+ game road trip.

This puts us into a tie for a playoff spot going into the All Star Break. That's never happened.

I can't predict anything that'll happen next, but I think it's gonna be a hell of a ride.

Whereas we got our ass kicked by Boston which just makes me sad.

True, but at least they put some pretty epic smackdown onto the Canes on Tuesday.

Yes, but the Canes weren't a single point ahead in the standings. :(

Ah well, could be worse, we could be below the Rangers.

Yeah...you could even be barely scraping above 14. (*grr* At least they fired Ferguson. Now if they could get rid of Peddie and the rest of MLSE...)

And, hey, they're still quite in the hunt, so that's exciting.

The race down to the playoffs this year is actually gonna be pretty insane in both conferences, I think. I'm looking forward to it.

Even if I suspect there'll be several days around the trade deadline and late March where I'll want to jump off a bridge. :D

Picking up

You might want to read Bob Hunter's column in today's Dispatch, it's where he write that team records are starting to look respectable.

Think about it.

Federov puts down a bounty.

Space-cadet Nikolai Zherdev takes a hard block for the team, and passes off sure goals when a teammate has an equal shot. And every night he does something so smooth there oughta be a highlight film of it. Passing?

Three rookies playing serious minutes and scoring regularly. Boll got the game winner last night and the night before Russell had a breakout 2 goal game. Brassard's will come soon, and I like he and Murray. This year's team rookie-of-the year is going to mean something.

And of that #8 the real number is six, as in the number won out of the last eight games.

This is getting to be fun. I think I'd like to go to Nationwide on Tuesday.

And yeah, Pascal LeClaire not playing in the All-Star Game is pure robbery.

I don't know if we'll make the playoffs, you spoke truly when you wrote that it's going to be a hell of a ride.

I read the Hunter article - he had a point, but I think it's also somewhat the result of a very young team (the franchise has really only been around for 7 years, and I'd argue that true maturity and leadership has only been here since Hitchcock was hired last Thanksgiving), won't really have many stellar records to break, even internally. It's a wonderful thing to see those team records improve, but even a die-hard fan has to admit the bar was set low. :D

Tuesday could be a lot of fun...if you decide to go and want to give me a holler, I could probably make it if I go hell-for-leather from work.

Oh - what are you doing Sunday? There's going to be an All-Star Game party and potluck at the RBar.

That might be fun.

I'd like to hear what the national people are saying.

The game starts at 6 Sunday, I'll probably head down around 5ish...

I just checked and the most points the Jackets have ever scored for a season is 74 and the lowest total 57. We have 56 today. The question simply is how long will it take to break that record?

Well, the cutoff for the playoffs this year is probably going to be around 94 points, so....
