God-DAMMIT.

Well, we'll see what Howson can come up with, then...

The goalie was key. Lightning get Mike Smith.

Which...is odd, because everyone was saying that Smith -isn't- the type of goalie they wanted if they're really going to go with either of the goalies down in their minor system in a couple years. A lot of people thought Columbus might work because they were going to look for a UFA goalie to fill the gap and get more roster players.

I guess Tampa may give Smith a shot at the number one position. They sent Holmquist to Dallas and they wish they could have Modin back.

I have to wonder if Dallas is eventually going to "lose" this trade. I don't think Richards is going to be that happy, long term, about being a #3 centre behind Morrow and Modano, and losing Jussi Jokinen...?

Jokinen literally gave them 8 points from his 8 shootout winners this year. I suspect they'll wish they had him back.

Speculation about what's happening with the Jackets on the Trade Deadline show is rife - and more negative than anything else. I'd like to think most of it is baseless thus far.

Apparently not. :(

It looks like Howson's blowing up everything...just call us the Syracuse Blue Crunch at this point.

Damn!

Only two moves. Not the end of the world. I'm underwhelmed that Howson has not found anyone who can play now. As far as Foote goes, don't let the door kick him in the butt on the way out. Federov should retire. This frees up about ten million in cap room. Will ownership spend the bucks on a top center and defenseman in the off season?

TSN has Foote and Federov gone. Foote to the Avs for a draft pick?!? That's it?

If they're first rounders, with how good / deep this draft is...that may not be so bad. I suppose it's even possible he's grabbing picks to move on something else?

A first rounder with conditions if the Avs make the playoff and if he resigns with them, I think.

Federov to the Caps for a nineteen year old freshman defenseman playing for Notre Dame named Ted Ruth. How the mighty have fallen.

Who's next out the door, and is anyone coming in to finish out the season?
