Jun. 24th, 2008 04:18 pmOK - called Vogelzang during a slow period at work (ie: all day) and got a replacement female damper collar on the way - they don't even need me to send back the extra male damper. Yay!
Tel-Tru says my thermometer for the door shipped today, and that basically means that until we figure out how we're doing the handles, everything's bought.
(OK, yeah, technically I also need to get a different middle grate, too, since the barrel can't -quiiiiiiiite- fit 3 11x22" grates abreast, but I imagine a 10x20 isn't gonna be that hard to find.)
As to the handle(s), I'm actually seriously debating an axe handle. We'll see, but I think it has some potential.
So, once those parts arrive, here's the to-do list.
1) Dremel out the right lower damper hole a bit
2) Round down the door edges
3) Mark, drill, and cut in the top collars
4) Cut the door
5) Mount the door
6) Mark, drill, and cut in the chimney collar
7) Fit the chimney pipe
8) Fit the chimney cap
9) Drill the hole for the door thermometer
10) Mount door handle (somehow!)
11) Disassemble EVERYTHING
12) Power Wash the barrels, door, and diffuser plate
13) Strip paint off diffuser plate
14) Paint barrels and door
15) Assemble lower barrel
16) Tap lower barrel supports into concrete slab
17) Load fire bricks in lower barrel
18) Assemble collars
19) Assemble upper barrel
20) Install fire door
21) Assemble chimney
22) Get the wood
23) Cure
24) Smoke something tasty.
On the other hand, there -is- light at the end of the tunnel!
