The moment when you realize "I could totally fix this myself, if the $critical small part hadn't rusted out and shattered."

In a not unrelated story, I took the jammed drain plug out of my bathroom sink today after the Angelbeat seminar. Further repairs on hold until I see if I can replace said part without buying a whole new faucet.

Does it need replacement or can it be cleaned? Or is part of the lever mechanism missing?

The piece coming into the main drain pipe from the lever, which the drain plug itself hooks into, has snapped. Once I removed the entire drain and cleaned all the parts (hoping I could clean and reassemble it), you can see where it snapped off the lever, and the rusty remnant that was still hanging off the drain plug.

Well, they're pretty easy to change with a decent sized set of channel locks.

Oh? I didn't think they'd sell that without the rest of the faucet.
