Steve Mason is on his way from Syracuse.

What's interesting is the team hasn't announced anything yet. It makes me wonder if perhaps a trade is going to be fired off, too.

I think Norrena might have played himself out of a job last night. The question is, did he also play himself out of town?

A trade would shake them up a bit, not a bad idea.

Russell was not the defensive problem. Dorsett shows some grit. Picard is a bust. There's one goalie too many, one defenseman too many, and one extra wing.

Cuts or a trade.

There was also the hint in puck rakers about Howson talking to Russell about future plans.

Trade Norrena, Manny, Backman? (OK, maybe not Backman...maybe OKT) and package for...what? Hmm...

A few more fans in the seats :)

That's the thing, no one wanted them in the off season, who will want them now?

Well, we're not the only team falling on their faces out of the gate.

Modano isn't happy in Dallas. Brad Richards isn't happy in Dallas.

Maybe one of them?

Ottawa's a mess. Islanders might be willing to do something if DiPietro's out for too much longer. Jersey might take an extra backup for Weekes since Brodeur's out for the next few months...

I'd do not think the Isles will take Freddy after seeing him last night :)

Would Dallas get rid of Modano and would he want to come to Columbus - even with his old coach here?

The Jackets have maybe one d-man to deal, a couple of wingers and Norrena. What about Modin? I say he's expendable, but he's damaged goods.

Modin could be dealt. If he is, either we're getting a top 6 guy or we need Filatov back up STAT.

I think Modano's comments lately say he's done in Dallas one way or the other. Either he's gonna get traded or he's gonna retire. When he says he's disgusted by the way the team is acting, and "Get me a front office job if that's how you want to play", I think he'll be out sooner than later.

I wonder if Modano has anything left, or that he could turn into Federov? And look how well he's doing in Washington. Ugh, must be something in the water at Nationwide.

Federov, at least, had days when he played like a top line center. Umberger is, as they put it in Puck-rakers, absolutely a top nine forward, and might make a decent center with more game time, but we need a top six center now. There just isn't enough Brassard to go around.
