Nov. 27th, 2008 09:07 pmUgh. Ate too much. Ate -way- too much. And my stomach punished me for it after getting home.
Smoked turkey = huge success. Everyone was like "Ooooo". My dad's oilless fryer was neat, but the turkey got a little dry - he took it all the way to 170 before pulling it. I think it would have been better if he pulled it at 165 and let carryover do the last bit. OTOH, it wasn't too bad, and I'd certainly like to try it again. If nothing else, cooking with that thing looks fun. :)
Where things went all doom was dessert.
My grandparents, my uncle, my aunt, my sister, and my parents ALL BOUGHT PIES. Somehow, magically? No two alike.
We had Pecan, Pumpkin, Triple-Berry, Lemon Meringue, Custard, and Pumpkin-Cheese, which was basically a piecrust filled halfway with cheesecake filling and the rest of the way with pumpkin. Yum.
Unfortunately, even though I tried to only have a small slice of each (though I did take a fair bit of leftovers home), I started feeling pretty terrible on the ride home. Oh, well.
