Rock Band 2 has been very fun so far. I'm glad I invested in an improved kick pedal. I'm even debating if some songs might get easier if I tried to set up a double-pedal instead.

It's a Harmonix sequel, though. You can feel the "If you bought this, you must have bought the first game, so let's jack the difficulty up faster!" vibe that Guitar Hero II had compared to the original, too.

We were able to copy over all our RB1 songs, but I'm disappointed we couldn't copy over our existing dolls characters and their bands. I spent a lot of time setting up Utena and the Deputy Chairmen!

Oh, well.

No you didn't! There are three songs that can't get copied from RB1 ;)

I picked up RB2 for the Wii yesterday. So I don't have the RB1 songs, sadly, but I'm liking it. I think GH:WT ends up being just a hair better this round, though.

But RB2 has the song ("Hungry Like the Wolf") that finally broke the mental barrier of how to handle songs on hard.

Which 3 didn't copy? Just curious...

I'm not sure about GH:WT - not wanting to cash out for a 2nd set of instruments has put it off the options list for now. :) If I get a chance to try it I'll see what I think.

The Metallica song, the Ozzy/Black Sabbath cover, and the Tokio Hotel song. They couldn't license those, as they all aligned with Activision.

If you're playing on the 360, instruments are cross-compatible for both games. GH:WT will change the drum path to allow for the four pad setup, whereas RB2 just ignores the right cymbal.

So I'd say at least give GH a rental.

Hm! Didn't know GH supported the RB instruments.

Yeah. I think they got some pressure from MS and Sony to not piss off the console owners again.

Heh. Yeah, that'd be nice...

I too was a bit miffed at not being able to copy over my old band. However, the ability to sub in charaters of your own devising when you're playing with fewer than a full band kinda made up for it.

And speaking of Kinda, I'm only just remaking my RB1 band comprised of variations of The Doctor. With the new clothing options, my David Tennant actually looks a helluva lot better.

Ooo. I bet that's fun to see when it's rolling.

It's a minor thing. but I -really- like getting the option to choose to be a bass player in solo mode. I really don't have much talent at regular guitar mode, but I do decently as a bassist.

Heh, actually the guy they used as a model for the drummer is the other drummer in the band I used to play with. I kept seeing him every time I passed the Rockband 2 box displays when I was Christmas shopping.

They REALLY needed to correct the kick pedal from the first one. The drum interface was the only thing I had a problem with.

I think you or Blip mentioned that earlier - that's seriously cool. :)

I got really frustrated with the kick pedal. Couldn't ever get it to really feel right. I chanced on the nice steel Brick Head pedal a couple months ago and it made a huge difference. Adjustable tension and height helps SO MUCH. Plus I'm not constantly afraid i'm going to break it!
