Alex went home for lunch to check on the pipes. We have cold and hot water again!

I assume something froze and then thawed. To be safe, we're going to leave a slow drip open in the affected faucets tonight.

In other delicious news, thanks to a Chowhound poster I have found a source for fresh cheese curds in Columbus.

There will be Poutine this weekend. OH, yes. Yes there will.

Ooh!! You hooker! I want poutine.
Wait... I live in Canada...

Anywho. Do you have a water source leading to the outside? A water hose for the yard. If haven't shut that off, it could lead to frozen pipes indoors.

Check it out!

I admit you have an unfair advantage there.

Our water hoses are shut off, I checked both.

Check for leaks. Ice expands and sunlight might have warmed things enough to create a problem. Our sprinkler department often replaces couplings after a hard thaw. Kores_rabbit is also quite correct about checking your outside faucets, though I doubt they would shut off water inside the house. More likely release it :(.

So far, so good.

My suspicion remains something internal to the house was frozen.

Hopefully this is a one-off thing and the volume was small enough the expansion didn't weaken the pipes.

So far, everything seems OK this morning. We'll see what happens.

The oddest part was that it was not a total freeze. I gave the house a good once over, and I'm not seeing any outward signs of a leak, so I'm hoping it's just a very localized incident.

If none of the faucets had any cold water this morning, I'd be much more concerned, but 1/2 did and 1/2 didn't. I just wish I knew how that happened.
