Jan. 19th, 2004 08:29 amI really ought to write about yesterday. So. Here's a quickie for all of you.
We went to dinner here. My grandparents picked me up about 2:45 or so, and we met my parents and sister at the restaurant. We were originally going to go on a tour of the castle and grounds, but thanks to the massive amounts of nigh-deadly ice, the tour was canceled. However, we walked on our own up to the actual 'castle', and got a nice woman from the hotel staff to show us the unoccupied suite, and the pool house / rec building.
It was all extremely posh. Every building was built using natural sandstone and deadfall wood from the property, and generously appointed. The suite we saw had heated floors, Italian tile bathrooms (also heated), DVD players, TVs, mini-kitchens, and HUGE king size beds. Each bed was custom made, and cost a minimum of $7000. Ever wondered what it would feel like to do it in a $7000 bed? I hadn't before yesterday, but I officially have now. ;D
The pool house was equally impressive. They had an indoor pool, 2 weight rooms, a hot tub, a sauna, a private massage studio, a tanning salon, and a pool room with a beautiful pool table and vintage Space Invaders and Galaga machines. The only downside to the place? Visits start at $255 a night, and only go up from there. Though apparently they're running a 'romantic getaway' special to take $100 off the visit price until the end of March.
Dinner at the restaurant was pretty impressive, too. The food was all very good, and the only complaint I had was they had 1 waiter for our entire half of the (admittedly small) restaurant, and he was pretty clearly over-worked. On the other hand, he apologized for everything taking so long, and took our desserts and my dad's entree off the bill, so I think it worked out.
Next time I want to take people somewhere really impressive (if a bit of a drive), I think I'd kinda like to take them to this place. But I think it might be best to let things warm up a bit, first. It was very pretty all covered in snow and ice, and they did try to clear as much as they could, but the roads especially weren't so good.
And now, I get to go into work today while a lot of you get to stay warm and inside on this holiday, so...bleah! :D See people later.
