How David Klegman found his Purpose.
Aug. 1st, 2006 09:49 pmSo, tonight,
dklegman hit for some Beer and Carnage, so while Alex was up raiding with his guild, and Lisa engaged in far less silly pursuits, we decided to pull out the folding board, my one finished building, and play a home-brew hybrid of Kill Team and Cities of Death. (Obviously, we'll play real CoD games when more buildings are done).
So, what we have here is the shop that sells the best soft-serve cones in the universe, and the Tau need some creamy refreshment. Sadly, the Genestealers got there first, and they aren't getting out of line without a fight. --
dklegman's totally serious pre-battle briefing.
For our first battle, we went vaugely Space Hulky, with some of my Genestealers attempting to battle his Silencer team. Despite some early success (ie: Making it halfway across the board without dying), the volume of fire from Dave's team, plus his ability to move after shooting, made a sad end for the Tyranids. (Lesson here is 1) Get more buildings, or at least better cover. 2) Move/Shoot/Move is EVIL in close quarters. Most of the time I got into charging range he was able to scoot.)
The second battle saw me going to a short squad of Tactical marines to match the points of his kill team, and while I had some early success, a few bad rolls on my part, and good rolls on his, ended that battle after a very nasty fight that went through all 3 levels of the structure.
Finally, Dave decided to see what a Tau on Tau fight would look like, and handed me one of his other Stealth Teams. This one got ugly, nasty, and ended with me driving the boot of the Greater Good into his enclavist face. :D
Very fun night, but Dave gets the props for this day, now that we have learned just how dangerous he will be in a full-on cityfight, and I think we're both looking forward to our next scrap.
