Authenticity note: women say anata to men, not vice versa, when it's used as an endearment.

*blinks* Odd. I've found references where men have used it too. (Ep. 22-26 of RahXephon in particular, and a couple episodes of a few other things.)

What's the -correct- one, then? :D

I keep hearing that some anime dialogue is technically gramatically incorrect (Much like if you see 'wassup, homey g dawg slice' in American media). This may be an instance of such.
