There were about 8 things I was thinking on and off about putting in here after I got home. However, I will not. I'm tired, it was a long drive, and I'm kinda toasted.

But. I MUST write about one man, for otherwise I would be doing a disservice.

On the way back to Wooster, I stopped in Mansfield for gas, wiper fluid, and after a few moments of consideration, for some coffee and dessert to help me keep going. I headed to the Cracker Barrel after taking care of my car, and probably looked like hell. I was seated immediately, and my waiter came out, asking how I was doing. Unsurprisingly, I told him I was cold and needed a break from driving. He grinned and we talked for a bit. Then he offered to re-seat me by the fire. (I declined, but thanked him.)

I ordered coffee and apple pie. Then I ate. When I was finished, after a couple more cups, he asked me if I wanted anything for the road. I told him not to worry about it.

Instead, he made me a to-go cup of coffee, as well as a bag of hot cornbread muffins. Then handed me my check.

All he billed me for was the to-go cup of coffee.

I tried to get him to adjust the bill. He refused.

I left a $6 tip for a $.99 cup of coffee. It was the only right thing to do.

Though I doubt I'll see you again, to Jeremy, waiter, I offer my sincere thanks. You were incredibly kind and honorable when you didn't have to be. Take care, and good luck.

If I ever go on a murderous rampage, I'll have a list of people not to kill. He definately goes onto that list. ^^

*is so twisted*

I hope this shows as a shining example to how those that think 99% of the human race is a waste of flesh, that a good Samaritan is always just around the bend.

Write to the restaurant and tell them he took good care of you. :)

I agree. If the company knows he went the extra mile, he may end up getting a raise or something.

Personal service that's still personal and human is hard to come by, due to the whole nature of the service industry (and the callousness of some managers). I say, reward kindness with kindness.

The tip was a very generous gesture. But making mention to the corporate office would be even more generous.
