Okay....interesting day so far.

TAing was easy, and I look foward to soloing the next week and a half while Karen's at a conference. Doing 2 movies and one guided discussion. Looks fun.

At the staff meeting, El Juan, the John of Doom, presented me with a stll quite usable Cassieopeia that was his before he joined the department and got both a Visor and a Palm 500Color. Of course, it needs batteries, including the RS-16 watch battery for the backup memory, and it's a serial cradle rather than USB, but who am I to complain when it's free and a gift?

Midterm in Medieval gossip. I've either failed or passed, but I felt pretty good walking out.

The reaction to my official "I.S. #1" button all day has been great.

One more class to go, but after that the campus is gonna be off the net until 7 or 8pm EST while we do a server consolidation and upgrade. Will see you all then, with any luck.

(Oh, anyone know good software for a Windows CE handheld?)

I have an old HP Jornada that I play with and use as a glorified alarm clock. ;-)

I remember Dashboard being useful and nifty. There's also a bit of software Microsoft made called Transcriber, which lets you write on your screen in Newton fashion, without using graffitti-style glyphs. Its accuracy may seem shady at times (your handwriting may vary), but it is neat to play with.

Hrm....interesting.

Wondering about games...found a neat looking 'Learn Kanji' program, but unfortunately it requires a color CE handheld. Oh, well.

Maybe I'll trade up in a few years. :D In the meantime, it'll work out fairly well.

I don't remember gaming being good on Pocket PCs. I found PDA-based gaming beyond Solitaire generally sucked.

For any important PDA business on my part, I use my trusty old Handspring Visor Deluxe. Anything that requires a color screen, or more horsepower is better handled by my iBook. PocketPCs strike me as being too generalized to make good PDAs, and even now seem too underpowered to upset laptops. You may wish to accept a different set of compromises, though.

Then again, I think PDAs as we see them now will be gone within five years, replaced by increasingly capable mobile phones.

Oh, I'm not expecting Arkanoid or anything. Just stupid crap I can use at meetings when I need to. :D And solitaire works for that.

As to the rest, this thing's gonna be my noteboard and day to day task list, especially if I find out I can sync it to Novell Groupwise. As to the rest, I'd love to see a Blackberry or Hiptop type system replace the PDA, but for now...I got this one for free!

Heck, I'd love for work to buy me a Treo next year, too.
