It's been a long day.
Took car to the dealership at 9.
Found out by 11:30 that it was fixable, and actually a fairly common thing to go wrong in an air conditioner, but they don't keep many A/C parts on hand, so they needed to order one.
I pick the car up tomorrow, and take it back Tuesday or so.
After that, work was...engh.
Remainder of the morning? Not so bad. Got some work done. Was interrupted when the Director wanted to use the workroom's projector system for his son to play WindWaker on to keep him out of trouble since the little shit tried to steal stuff from them last time they left him alone, but. I was very polite and noted the work I was doing was likely to be noisy and delicate, and I really didn't think turning out the lights and putting the projector on a good idea.
Score one for me.
Afternoon...not so good.
You see, the Economics department used to maintain their own labs. Still mostly do in several respects, and the professor who does so works closely with us. He's a nice old guy who really is into MacOS X and Unix, and I like him.
The problem is, he's going on Sabbatical in Germany, and decided to leave last month. Econ department wanted to update their main lab. This causes complications.
He mails us a DVD-R with a disk image on it, and the message 'This should work?'
It's not bootable, and the permissions are all set wrong.
First hour: Fixing all the permissions after putting it on a Firewire drive.
2nd hour: Making it work with the hardware. (Desk Lamps.)
3rd-now: Imaging all the systems, which is going sloooooowly.
I'm gonna do, like, 3 more systems, and see if I can bum a ride home and possibly to the store from
