Without the Ellison script.

And with Will Smith as the star and producer.

Unless the director can save this, I'm gonna scream. OTOH, it's the guy who did Dark City, but still....

The quality of the Ellison script is not enough to compensate for the problems of working with Ellison himself.

Ehn. Ellison, as long as he is treated in certain ways by pertinent people, can be very easy to deal with. JMS is a good example of this, as he got him to produce incredibly well for B5 with a fairly low amount of problems.
