Aug. 22nd, 2003 05:17 pmThis little ditty was stolen from Neil Gaiman, of all people. It does a gender analysis of text, and determines the gender of the author.
I ran some journal entries through. More often than not I'm female, it seems.
Not gay, tho. Still way too much love for the vagina to be gay. But female.
Heh.

Date: 2003-08-23 09:31 am (UTC)Journal entries that I have written come across as female. Passages from fan-fiction that I have written also read as female. Fan-fiction passages I inputted from male writers actually came up male.
A fan-fiction that I wrote with a female co-author came up as written by a male, which I thought was interesting. Perhaps multiple authors skew this result.
All of the articles I have written recently for the newsletter at work, about motorcycles, bring up a result of "male" authorship.
And a fan-fic I wrote, journal-style, from the point of view of a man, came up male! ROCK!
This is the part that seems the most "valuable" to me...getting into the head of the other sex, in a way, almost as a double-check. I'm going to have to write something from, say, Gemini's POV and see what gender it comes up, though knowing how the tool works I'll have to be careful not to be self-concious about what I write, just work naturally, and see the results. That or I'll dig up some of his old bbposts to try, when I'm at home.

Date: 2003-08-23 10:11 am (UTC)Actual -poses- I input come across as female, but, since it's still 'my' writing, I guess that makes sense. I'd say this thing works pretty well for writing but not as well for speech, so if you put a long passage of dialogue in, you'll get a 'female' result.
I'll be experimenting more. This is, like, a new favorite toy.
