Well, actually, since you're stuck on Windows, you might. The best browser is Galeon, followed by Safari. Opera's probably third (It's slightly less dumb than Firebird's interface).
And yeah, I find Opera more satisfying to use than Firebird, especially after spending a bit of time customizing my interface.
Though honestly? I think Safari has the potential to be one of the top ones, but it still has enough issues (such as how it displays webmail sites such as ScotMail) that I'm hesitant to put it there until we see the new point release that's going to come with Panther.
Galeon is Linux. It uses the Mozilla rendering engine (the only bad facet of that is how much hard drive space it takes, but that's no biggie).
There's little that Apple's added to Safari I don't like. I want my tabs on the right, and want to be able to move them around, but otherwise I love the interface (Galeon has those features, and customizable, addable search boxes. I have Google, Google Groups, freshmeat, a dictionary...). I wish Apple would contribute to KHTML more though. It could use some work (again, from Linux ;) )
That's about what I expected. And I just don't have the interested in building a Linux partition on one of my drives. :D Now, if you have an IDE Controller card and a spare HDD around, then we can talk...
As to Safari and KHTML, I suspect that answer is 'give them some time'. Let's not forget that this is a barely out of beta product, and a first time product at that. All things considered they've done exceptionally well.
I suspect that in a few years, particularly the more they attempt to court the Open Source/BSD crowd, they'll play more and more with it.
No, you won't
