I'm not a big baseball guy, and haven't been since the various strikes. But tonight...bleah.

You see, a lot of people already hate the Yankees for being a team essesntially run on the premise of 'If we buy all the talent, we'll win!' Being raised a Reds and Indians fan by my parents, I certainly don't object to this. But, I actually happen to think the Marlins are worse.

After all, this is the team that shocked the world with its' ingratitude the year the won the Series by trading or firing the majority of players. Why? Because it wasn't a high enough profit that year. And I've got a good guess that the same thing could happen again this year.

You see, whatever else you want to say about the Yankees, they treat their people decently, and they play the game to give the fans a good show, aside from anything else. They may be a team of bought talent, but they're a team of well managed talent.

The Marlins are run entirely for profit, and its' owners don't seem to give a good goddamn about the game. I feel disgusted that they could get a second world series ring.

Hmph! Only thing I want to see are the Mariners win.

Seattle is people, too. How come our teams always suck?

Ahhhhh, the seadogs. :D

Hey, if it makes you feel better, even in future SF novels, they're still trying to get the Mariners a winning team. ;D

See, that's one thing I've never understood. How can there be a 'World Series' when there's only one country competing?

Typical Yank arrogance... :P

It's two!

Canada has a chance at it, too!

You have the friendly neighbors to the north to blame as well!

And look at where a lot of the players come from! Japan, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Central America...we do have /some/ support.

Plus, as [livejournal.com profile] heatherbeast said. Yeah. Canada.

Eat /that/ maple syrup, biiiiiiiiiiiiyatch! (eh.)

Rumor has it that Joe Torre has told the team that if they beat the Red Sox and lose to the Marlins, he will personally insure that they spend the off-season cleaning gutters and streets in Massachusetts. And shoveling snow.

Joe Torre feels the same way you do. He said in an interview that the Marlins are "a bunch of punks who don't care about baseball, just about money".

Neato. I actually agree with Joe Torre.

But what if they lose to the Sox? Oh, wait. Steinbrenner will just fire everyone. Nevermind.

I don't know about that. Steinbrenner at least respects Boston as a team.
