bzarcher: A Sylveon from Pokemon floating in the air, wearing a pair of wingtip glasses (Hyatt)

Okay, so remember when I said it that was probably the video card, and if not I was in trouble?

Yeah, I'm in trouble. A new power supply and video card later, still no good. Drives tested OK, just no video, no sound.

Motherboard, thy name is toasted.

So, my parents and I worked out that for early christmas, I'm getting either a new motherboard/proc/memory combo, or a cheap new computer. Going to sit down and shop here shortly.

In good news, got to hang out with the Gook, played a LARP to the bone (even if it was badly run and on a totally bullshit premise) to the point that I was the undisputed victor despite losing, OSU won, and most importantly, [livejournal.com profile] skarlette had a really good weekend at WindyCon and spent 2 hours on the phone with me afterwards. :>

Okay, so I'm also taking a small ego boost at how much we missed each other, and that stuff constantly reminded her of me...it's strange, but missing her is a little bit easier when I know she misses me just as much.

Anyhow. Back to work and shopping.

I love you, Lisa. Talk to you as soon as I can.

You know, Doug has a HD he was going to use for his sister & BIL's wedding present, but he went ahead with another plan...maybe you'd be interested in buying it? :)

I don't know the specifics, you'd have to ask him. But right now, it's brand new, and...it's sitting on our dining room table, doing nothing.

Alas, poor motherboard ... it served faithfully.
This calls for a burial at sea!

All my drives are fine, actually. My data is 100%. Unless you're talking about something else and using the wrong initials?

3 years, and that was after purchasing it refurbished. I'm quite satisfied with the service, indeed.

...unfortunately, the best I can do for a sea is driving up to a lake, or perhaps the water hazard at the college golf course.

LOL, this is where my technical 'expertise' is really going to shine. :)

It's the thing with the power on-off switch, that has the computer boards in it. There's no monitor, it's just the main...unit thing. :)

I don't know if that's something you could use, in whole or in part.

That's a CPU, dear.

And yes...yes...perhaps?

Get him to leave me some details, price, etx.

It's an old IBM GL300 - Pentium II 350, 64 MB of RAM, 4 GB HD, no AGP, and only one CD-ROM sized expansion bay. It's not a lean mean gaming machine, I'm afraid. :D

Go for the water hazard - confuse the next guy that goes to clean it out. :D

Yeah, I'm afraid that really wouldn't cut it. :D

Thanks, tho, for her thinking of me, and you for letting me know. :D

I thought as much too. If you know anyone at Wooster that needs a basic PC though, I'm open to offers.

Hm, personally I would choose the golf course.

I might, there's a guy in my office who could probably use it.

What kinda price range were you thinking?

Seems that's the consensus.

Oh. Um.

Minor detail, but do I know you? If not, welcome, but just curious. :D

I paid $100 for it, so that'd be preferable. Though again I'm open to any offer just to recoup some of my losses. :D
