bzarcherWell, it's good news and bittersweet news:
Good news: My grandmother called and asked me to confirm with my Dad how much money she's supposed to give me for the new parts. I'll be calling him shortly to do so.
Bittersweet news: That my parents did this means several things.
-This is my Christmas presents, right here.
-The fact that my grandparents are sending the money means my parents are probably in bad
finances again.
-The continually promised graduation presents from my parents (First it was books they'd pick
out, then books I'd pick out, and finally an Amazon gift certificate) is probably never coming.
All of these are downers, but it's the last one that kinda makes me sad, and I'm not sure why. I know it's a disappointment, but a disappointment I'd kinda suspected would be the case as far back as June when it was first supposed to arrive and got delayed. Maybe it's just that I always hoped for something.
I never got a H.S. graduation present from them, either. It was supposed to be their agreement to pay all my student loans, but now that's gone, too. I originally thought my first college PC was, but it turns out that they'd intended to give me one regardless, so they didn't consider it such.
It's just a little depressing. There are landmarks that are supposed to show your family wishing you well and giving you one last gift before the next phase of your life, and I've never quite seen them as I passed them by. It may be better for me in the long run that I don't count on others and try to do as much as I can by myself before looking for the external reward or support, but...

We'll see. At least this means that if Essen can ship the parts to me quickly, I'll be up and running again by Friday, Monday at the latest. (Assuming I get the money in cash tomorrow, or even potentially tonight, let the bank process the deposit, then make the order with the free 2-day FedEx shipping.)
