It's /my/ turn to geek now, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] indigoskynet

So the challenge is to form an ideal X-men team, limited to 7 members.

1. Nightcrawler. Blue, fuzzy, turning into quite a good leader, and with the magic bamf plus his swordsman skills. Not to mention a diplomat, and in worst case, he can pray for God to smite them all.

2. Quicksilver. Speed, attitude, and quite a good hand on various situations. Not to mention the obligatory smartass.

3. Chamber. While I still don't know what I think about Jono getting his face back, his adventures undercover in Weapon X have shown he's not only a good telepath and character concept for 'cool freaky power', but grade-A badassity, and his Icons series showed some nice touches about the man inside.

4. Beast. Not just for blue fur. Smart, skilled, and all around reliably cool guy. Plus, a good bit of the classic Flava.

5. Domino. Brains, beauty, firepower, and being able to get the lucky moments at just the right times.

6. Strong Guy. I gotta agree with Indigo here. Not only an excellent muscles and force guy (plus a good source of jokes), but someone I think has been pretty under-utilized since at least AoA.

7. The original, blue skinned, I don't take shit from you, eat my razorblades, Archangel. Not the borderline pedo "I can heal now rather than hurt" pansyass daisyeater. Hardass down to the edges of his wings and the soles of his boots.

Plus, I always thought he was the coolest looking thing ever when he went balls out.

If I could, I think I might add Jubilee, Penance, Emma Frost, and Rictor.

Edit: And, after a conversation with the mighty [livejournal.com profile] spartanfan, I have been convinced that Forge is the shiznit, and clearly deserves a place on the main team. Please mark your cards appropriately, as he'll be replacing Beast on the A-list, while Beast moves to the on-deck circle.

Past that, it seems I'll be going home through freezing rain, sleet, ice pellets, and eventually snow. Huzzah.

It's one of the things in the recent Weapon X books. (Lisa's been reading bits of them to me over the phone.) Part of how they helped get his loyalty. (Or so they think. Everything I keep hearing and reading makes me think this is a VERY deep cover sting on Weap. X, especially since Logan's apparently met with him a couple times since he 'switched sides'.

More details from Lisa after a nice hourlong phonecall. Jono's face, chest, and such have been restored by Weapon X technology, with a special plate that Lisa decribed as 'looking a bit like the monolith' installed in his chest for when he turns on the kaboom. (I /think/ it covers about the '6 pack' area?) The blasts exit from it rather than ripping out his face again.

Not bad, so far.

Naw, he's still got the abs.
If you've seen the small-sized Energon figures (Battle Ravage, Strongarm, etc.), it's in the same place as their energon chips. Lower pecs area. Size'wize, I'd say it's about as big as his hand spread-out, with little wrinkles and creases around it.

Hmmm. Well, okay.

(Note: Do we get super geek points for using Transformers to explain X-men?)

Strong Guy is indeed my favourite 'Brick'-type character. But I'm going to have to say that bumping Beast off any team is a recipe for disaster!

Yeah, but let's not forget that Forge is something like 2 steps down from God in terms of sheer mojo.

MO-JO, baby. YEAH, baby, YEAAAAAAAAAAAH.
