Well, that was an interesting morning/lunch.

Started with the international student who is also supposed to be at the desk not arriving until 10:30. (Hour and a half late.)

But, before he arrived, my boss, the helpdesk manager, and the director(who was supposed to be on vacation this week) all came in to look at his timecard. Asked me when he'd been showing up. Officially.

Turns out he's been falsifying his timecard for the last 3 weeks. You know, the legal document which gets turned into the IRS? The one that falsifying is this felony called fraud?

As you might imagine, I no longer have someone at the desk other than myself.

Then, after a bit, I head to lunch. I get a neato idea! I take the grilled chicken salad. Add nachoes and hot cheese. Add half of a $1.50 bottle of salsa I bought from the store attached to the cafeteria. BAM! Taco chicken salad! On a roll!

Then the guy who got fired shows up when I'm getting ready to leave and talks about how he "knew he was gonna get fired today", how he "felt it", and basically how I'm supposed to feel sorry for him.

I'm sorry? I'm supposed to be sad that you:
A)Lied on a legal document multiple times?
B)Committed tax fraud?
C)Slacked off on work?
D)Refused to come in on time?

Dumbass!

Call the INS. You know you want to. Bring this up. I promise you, you will see a jackboot-wearing retrieval squad down there in 8 hours or less.

Not worth the effort. And technically this post violated the office confidentiality policies about firings. :D I just needed a chance to let it out.

Awww, Matt's so cute when he violates office policy to tell us stuff. :)

Probably, the IT director will get the guy deported anyhow. If you have to recall timecards and have him owe the department money, the IRS is going to get interested, and then the INS.

Depends. The guy only has 2 months until he graduates (he's finishing his last course requirement in the summer), so they might just bar him from getting another campus job and refuse to provide him with any references for continued Visa or employers. (This is what appears likely, along with possibly denying a diploma.)
