I'm thinking again, and we all know this is dangerous.

The apple store offers fairly good APR loans.

If I get this job, I'm seriously considering a $3300 loan for a 15" Superdrive powerbook G4 and new iPod...

A computer is a liability, not an asset. Get an IRA if you don't have one yet, or at the very least a CD.

A computer's an asset, but I already have a desktop. I don't have an IRA or CD...I guess that's something I have to think about.

A computer is /not/ an asset. Show me a computer that appreciates over time, and I'll eat my words.

Okay, monetarily it is not an asset, but in terms of productivity? A more modern machine that I could use as a greater tool in my work (especially to demonstrate modern equipment for this particular job, if I get it), would be a big help.

I suppose I'm pushing the IRA because someone pushed it on me when I was 22. Five years later, I already have ten thousand bucks saved for when I retire. Every year you put it off, you're gonna need about 1.2 years to make it up.

I'm also a concept oriented thinker, so I advocate the bigger picture.

You're in a very awesome position to have no debt at your young age, it would irresponsible of me to not underscore the importance of that.

Well, no debt except the student loans, and the car that I now have halfway paid off.

Out of curiousity, where is the best place to go for the IRA?

I've had good experiences with Roth and Janus, I can't vouch for anyone else.

Er, amend that. TIAA-CREF is legit as well.

And I assume this is an in-person, sit down, show us your records type thing, not something done online?

A computer is fun, though.
