And this is why I'm never flying American Airlines ever again.

In other news, Highlights has yet to get back to the recruiter, and she's now pissed. She says that she's very frustrated by the lack of response and has left messages with them twice today, so far.

As far as the American Airlines things goes, my only comment is that some pilots just need to stay away from medication and the bar before taking off...

I doubt this guy was on drugs. Just probably watched too much Billy Graham in the pilot's lounge. That said, thank you for 3 more reasons not to get on the plane. :D

So does this mean you'd get on a plane that was piloted by a Discordain? [/smartass]

I'd get on a plane piloted by a Branch Dividian if they promised not to try and convert anyone during the flight and that the flight would be a smooth and normal trip.

Too many pilots these days are good friends with Ol Jack.

Blanket statements get you into trouble.

First, read the above. :D

Now. While there may be some who have troubles with the bottles or pills (and with all the shit out there, I can't entirely blame all pilots for being a bit paranoid of late), I think that most are probably still fine and committed to safe flight.

What problems there are could probably be corrected if the Pilots Unions would be willing to allow the companies to do more self-policing and have more ability to check for/enforce drug and alcohol problems. (Last 2 times I heard of such measures being floated, the unions killed them. I don't know why, but they did.)

And if there really IS an endemic abuse problem in the flight corps? Then fire them all and train new pilots before someone augers in a 747 and the shit really hits the fan.

Meh.

My dry, sarcastic wit does not translate well in ASCII.
