Hrm. I think I identified one of the things I -really- miss about a relationship.

And no, it's not sex. (Given that I've only ever had very heavy petting/cuddling anyhow, it's very easy for it not to be sex. :D)

I miss waking up in the morning, and someone else is in bed with me. I can feel her heartbeat. I can feel her waking up.

I miss that a lot.

Sorry I zonked out on people relatively early last night. The heat (85 degrees at NIGHT!?! JESUS!) really was getting to me, and I decided just to call it a day around 11:30ish.

(For all that, it didn't help much. Was so hot that I ended up sleeping just atop the sheets, in a state that can only be called sans boxers, and it was -still- too damn hot. I think I'm gonna buy a 2nd, and possibly a 3rd, fan for the room, or July and August will be hell.

1) Lose the window screens. Cope with the bugs (unless you live next to a swamp or something). The screen blocks something like half of your airflow.

2) Put a box fan in the window aimed OUT. I'm not sure why this works (I've heard several equally plausable theories), but after 10-15 minutes, it starts to feel significantly cooler. My own unfounded theory is that it's like the CPU fan in your computer: YOU are the biggest heat source in the area, so venting your heat away is a better idea than blowing your heat around.

3) Take a tube sock. Put a few ice cubes in the middle. Tie the ends together at the back of your wrist (so that the cubes are inside the sock near where you'd take your pulse). Use duct tape if you're not nimble enough to tie one-handed. You'll feel like the biggest dork ever, but the ice cubes will cool you off considerably.

1) Did it part way, but the college has a ladybug infestation, so I have to be careful

2) The fan I have is already doing that. :D

3) ........I might. But I think I'll start by adding a second fan to increase crossflow.

4) Put a bowl with either ice, or at least lukewarm water in front of the fan. Seems to bleed some of the heat off of the air moving.

5) Put a fan on the floor so that the air is blown in. Forces more of the cooler air into the room, and puts a nice breeze on your feet/ankles. Works really well teamed with the bowl of water.

6) Ice cube, wrapped in bandana, tie the bandana around your neck. Yeah, it looks dorky, but that's one of the major body-temp-foolable spots. The other two are the top of your head (biiig heat bleed there) and your wrists. :D

Hrm. I'll start with the fan. Keeping bowls of water or Ice out around here doesn't seem particularly safe, given how much electronic stuff I have in the room. :D
