Unless you're fortunate enough to hit a garage sale where someone is trying to get rid of theirs, I found that it's an annoyingly difficult piece of furniture to obtain on the cheap. :(
I ended up getting a box spring last winter at Levin Furniture (twin-sized) for around $75.00 + tax.
Wish I could help. I got mine cheap, but only because my parents knew the owner of the store. You might try asking if they have floor models for sale? Mine was a floor model so it was marked down in the first place.
Getting up to Michigan this weekend would be the main problem, since we already made plans with people. But let me see what I can find out. If the liquidation sale isn't as a good a deal, maybe I can work something out.
