The PC is rebuilt, but being twitchy. Keeps powering off as it gets into post, but not giving post warnings. *shrug* We thought it was a bad BIOS battery, it wasn't, and it's up on the bench at OSU today to see if some of Alex's guys there have ideas.

I used to get furious about this sort of thing, but right now I realize that either I made a mistake, or there was something wrong with the RMA board that I cannot fix. Either way, not much I can do.

I just have to be paitent.

Swap out the Power Supply, and see if things clear up.

Actually, in that vein, I did call Alex and have him strip it down to PSU, motherboard, RAM, and CPU. Same problem. Can't even get the BIOS to come up before it shuts off.

The chassis intrusion jumpers are off. Any other ideas?

Can you get a volt meter in the rails? Check that you aren't dropping below acceptable voltages before you get anywhere. It'd be easier to check that if you were at least getting to the BIOS readout, or a running system, but the molex connectors will get you 12 and 5, and 3.3 should be able to be reached via the fat connector.

OSU checked that. Looks OK.

Tried a 350w PSU, it gets to the BIOS screen. Tried to save the BIOS settings...and it shuts itself back down again.

I'm thinking this is a lemon board, and I'm calling Asus today.
