Well, ESB and RoTJ, anyhow...

2. you remember where you were when the Challenger blew up
Watching it at Mrs. Chapin's house.

3. you remember bomb drills at school...
Yep! And fire and tornado.

4. you remember when Russia was the bad guy.
When I was in my "I want to be in the army" phase, I used to check out everything the Library had on Soviet arms and armor so I could research them and figure out ways to beat them.

5. you thought Molly Ringwald or Judd Nelson was cool.
No, but I had a major crush on Ally Sheedy from Short Circuit.

6. you think Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the best movies
Tron all the way, man. Tron all the way.

7. you still smirk when you hear "Where's the beef?"
Hell, my dad still has his company shirts that say Where's The Beef!

8. you remember the day when you thought a SpeaknSpell was so high tech
Dude, my SpeaknMath was the bizbomb.

9. you thought it wouldn't get any better than Pong
Actually, I did, but I thought the best game on the 2600 was Combat.

10. You remember when Reagan got elected
The second time, vaguely. Like I said, he always just seemed to be The President.

11. you think that 15 years "isn't that long of a time"
Well, as a Historian, sure, but personally...not so much!

12. you've actually said "back in my day..."
Not yet!

13. you actually think that the 80's rocked...
In a lot of ways. :D

14. you remember watching MTV's debut
Well, I remember reading the Bloom County strips about it...

15. and you remember what the first video was Video Killed the Radio Star
Nope. Well, kinda, but not much.

16. you've gone through all your piles of shit lying around and found an 8-track
...I swear to god I only had it because it was my Aunt's and she left it here. Same with the Elton John.

17. you still own a cassette collection
Some, yes, but not many.

18. you know the lyrics to The Greatest American Hero
Part of them, anyhow.

19. when Ricky Martin made his comeback, you laughed cause he's just that kid from Menudo
See notes on how I cried when Mom got me a Menudo lunch box, back in Elementary school.

20. you remember bellbottoms from the first time they were around and refuse to wear them now because of it...
Nope! I don't wear them because they'd make me look like a triffid.

21. somewhere in an attic rests your collection of starwars figures, transformers, and g.i.joes..
Attic? Hell, in my room, and the basement, and my parent's basement...

22. and you have some of the full sized g.i.joes
Yes, but they're dad's from the 50s that he handed me down.

23. they came out with velcro
I *Heart* my velcro tennies. Even if I don't have any, anymore.

At halloween.

27. you remember crying the first time you saw E.T
I think I was mostly scared of the white suited guys the first time I saw E.T.

28. you so wanted to have KITT or the General Lee
Kitt, absolutely. The General Lee was kinda cool, but I hated the color.

29. all the stuff that you had as a kid is making a comeback....20some years later....
It's a bit creepy, but at least I might be getting a cheap God Ginrai out of it.

At least two or three of those are more 70s than 80s. Star Wars, for instance. Empire Strikes Back was -barely- 80s.

Yeah, weren't you -1 and 2 respectively when those movies came out in theatres?

I know I wasn't around for Star Wars, but I do remember seeing ESB in a theatre. Or at least I think I do.

I know the first time I saw Star Wars, though, it was definently on TV.

Also, since VCRs weren't common in those days, movies roadshowed more than they do now. I know I saw RotJ, but don't remember it.

Also keep in mind that it's not really proper to say you are a child of the 80s if you are born in the 80s. You have a small claim to it, but not really.

And bell-bottoms? What's up with that being there?

I've no idea about the bell-bottoms. Maybe people were wearing them enough to be common?

I think Star Wars was 1977 and Empire Strikes Back was 1980? I was born in 1979. I believe Star Wars was my parents' first date though.

I can tell you for sure that Star Wars was '77, because my parents saw it as part of their first anniversary. :D If ESB was '80, though, I've no idea how I saw it in theatres, unless somewhere did a special re-screening before ROTJ. I'd swear I did see it in the theatre, though...

Return of the Jedi was 1983 and re-released briefly in 1985, buddy. If you were born in 1981, you'd have been 2 and 4 when it was released. I know it was a national phenomenon, but c'mon, 2?

Maybe you're thinking of the re-releases in 1997?

I know it wasn't 1997, because I was little, and they took me to the old Loews, and the Loews closed in 1990...

Captain EO! Oh my god! I just got this total late-80s flashback when I heard that name, but I can't remember what it was.

Because I think you enjoy feeling like a wicked, wicked woman, and I love you very much.
