The only odder thing than finding out your grandfather has decided to run for city council is your grandmother (proud chair of the committee to elect him, of course, and treasurer of same) handing you one of his flyers and giving your mom one of his yard signs.

He's running as an independent, and apparently has a fair good shot at winning. Pretty neat.
