I think both ends were identical; there was also a stabby bit on the other end. I'm not sure how such a thing would be useful in a fight, unless it were spun, twirled, or put on the cover of a heavy metal album in 1983.

Yeah, you have to watch those garden gnomes. Between the sprinklers and hoses they have access to, and various pointed sticks, we may need to start coming up with plans in case there is a gnome revolution. =)
